Bite Me

Fun fact: I took a vampire lit class in college! 🧛‍♀️It was a lot of fun, and introduced me to a lot of texts I wouldn’t have read otherwise. I also took it as a grad student even though it was an undergraduate course, because I was just that interested in it! 🙃 I still really enjoy Victorian vampire literature, and I couldn’t resist this fun fang-print for Halloween. It’s hard to tell in the photos because of how small the print is, but the blood is actually hot pink!

This modified B5748 is a go-to pattern for me, and I love how versatile it is. I decided to wear it like a pinafore here, but as October can be a very warm month where I live, I like having the option to wear it alone as a dress. It’s a great transitional piece in this weird time of year, where the high can be in the 60’s or in the 90’s depending on the day!

I’ve made B5748 many, many times, but only once without modifying it! I’ve made this with a high neck and sleeves, I made this with a square neck and pleated skirt, I’ve made it with a square neck and sleeves… It’s a really great pattern that I’m happy with the fit of, so I basically use it as a sloper at this point. Aside from the different versions of this I’ve made, I have used it to guide the fit of other new patterns the first time I make them. It’s super handy to have a pattern like this that I can rely on the fit of!
