Bats & Starbusts & Migraines
Sewing Rule Number One: DO NOT SEW UP A NEW PATTERN WITH A MIGRAINE… Have you spotted the reason for this rule yet?
I’ve been wanting to try out this pattern, Butterick B6870, ever since it was first released, and this inexpensive Halloween print I picked up on sale from @joann_stores with cute bats and a retro atomic print seemed like the perfect fabric to pair with it!
However, this also wound up being my lesson not to sew a pattern for the first time with a migraine… Because I forgot to attach the collar at the shoulder seam! Yikes! The kind of pointy look works for me for Halloween, but I won’t be making this mistake on my next iteration of this pattern!
In addition to completely messing up the collar, I (purposefully) made it narrower. I’m proportionally smaller through the shoulders and I was afraid the larger collar would eat me alive, so I just took a bit of the width out there.
