Halloween Candy

I finished this dress yesterday and immediately put it on and asked my husband to take pictures of me in it! I guess I really like it!

I’d been wanting to try Simplicity S9164 for awhile now, and decided it would be a good use for this Halloween candy fabric from JoAnn Fabrics in the black with the ivory color way as contrast.

I also decided to try out a new technique I was curious about to trim the cuffs and collar, by using rick rack sandwiched in the seam to create a scalloped effect. I took a selfie where you can see that detail a bit better!

I wish the collar had a bit more shaping, but aside from that, the pattern was great to work with and came together easily. I chose to fully line mine, and used my standard gathered skirt— 5 panels of 45” fabric. I can see making many more of these!
