“Happiest Snacks” Separates

Anyone who knows me knows that I love Disneyland. My first visit to a Disney park was actually Disney World, when I was six years old and living in Florida. I remember my first glimpse down Main Street and of Cinderella Castle, and feeling so overwhelmed because I had no idea someplace like this existed outside of movies and story books.

As a teenager, I kept thinking I’d grow out of loving Disneyland, but happily, that day never came! When I met my husband, I talked him in to going with me (he hadn’t been since he was a kid), and he came to love it as well, so now we try to go a couple of times at year.

When I saw this fabric collection from Purple Dragon Fabrics, I fell hard! Who doesn’t love Disney food? It’s an integral part of the experience. These little anthropomorphic snacks are just adorable! I actually made four garments using fabrics from this collection: a dress, a bolero, a blouse, and a skirt. Here are the blouse and skirt, made using the Charm Patterns Rita Blouse and Gertie’s tutorial for the Picnic Skirt (available on YouTube), modified to have a back zip closure instead of a front button closure.

I wore this outfit around Downtown Disney, and my husband overheard my favorite comment of the day while he was taking these pictures for me: “Who is she supposed to be, Alice? Oh! She’s snacks!” When he told me what he’d heard, I cracked up, but I guess it’s true— not very many people disneybound as Disney foods, at least compared to the characters! This outfit makes me smile, and I hope it makes you smile, too!
