Haunted Green Dress

Do you ever have the experience where you picture a whole outfit in your mind, and execute it, and it comes together just the way you envisioned? It doesn’t happen often for me, but this was one of those projects! I picked this fabric up many months ago, and as I started thinking about Halloween being just around the corner, inspiration struck!

My husband: “Why are we getting a fake crow from Amazon?”
Me: “So I can put it on a hat.”
(…one week later…)
My husband: “Why are we getting another crow from Amazon?”
Me: “I decided the hat needed a second crow.”

My husband may think I’m crazy, but I’m really happy with how this came together! It was worth getting some weird mail.

The dress pattern is a tried-and-true, Butterick B6412. I shortened the sleeve, added piping at the sleeve opening and neckline, and used a gathered skirt with the bodice pattern. Did my usual very-very full skirt; five panels of 45” wide fabric here. This pattern used to fit me perfectly, and now it’s not quite so taut as to eliminate all the folds on the bodice, so I may need to take it in a bit the next time I make this— which, knowing me, will likely be pretty soon! This is a favorite.
