Bows Galore

I’ve had this bow fabric in my stash since last Christmas, but this year I decided it had to be a Butterick B6413.

This was the first pattern I ever considered to be a tried-and-true for me, and I still return to it often. There’s something comforting about making up a pattern I’ve made so many times before and can almost make in my sleep at this point!

I modified the pattern to fill in the keyhole, I raised the neckline, used a gathered skirt, and also added piping to this version.

I’ve actually never made the pattern as published— with the pencil skirt and keyhole— although I have put the bodice on the fitted sarong skirt from the Lamour pattern by Charm Patterns. Maybe someday I’ll have to try out the skirt the bodice is really meant to go with!

I’m happy to have this as part of my festive wardrobe-- the white background makes this really stands out from my mostly-red holiday makes!

It’s also a great style that can be dressed up or down, depending on my accessories. I think this styling is somewhere in the middle, but I could definitely go fancier, or wear it with flats and simpler jewelry/ no hat!
