Feeling Like the Cat’s Pajamas!
I fell hard for this cat fabric last Halloween, but couldn’t find it in stock— cut to Christmas of last year, and my local JoAnn Fabrics finally had it back! I snatched up all I could, and then bought more this year when it returned. So far, I have three garments made from it, and here are two of them!
I know I’m not alone in loving this print, as I’ve seen loads of fun makes from other sewists this Halloween season featuring the same fabric! I’m not ashamed to admit that I still have enough of this stashed away to make a blouse at some point, and I also have the orange color way in my stash, waiting for next Halloween!
To make this outfit, I returned to a few favorite patterns. The skirt is based on the Picnic Skirt tutorial that Gertie has posted on Youtube. I moved the closure to the back, and replaced the buttons with a zip. I also used the Dorothy bolero from Charm Patterns, and added pompoms to that, because why not? They’re so fun.
I paired these two pieces with my black Rita blouse (another Charm Pattern) that I made awhile ago and wear with everything. It’s such a great staple! I actually made this as a wearable muslin the first time I made up the Rita, and I’m so glad it fit because I come back to it so often.
